The Most Frequent Question I Am Asked
Duplicating a no-longer-produced scent
At
least a half-dozen times a month, I am contacted by a customer who
would like me to duplicate a fragrance that is no longer on the market.
Just this week, I was asked to create a fragrance that was discontinued
30 years ago! I tell everyone that I am able to "approximate" a scent
in terms of its quality and tone, but I do not "duplicate." To
precisely replicate a fragrance requires that one either is the
originator of the scent or have expensive laboratory equipment to
measure exactly the essences and other ingredients. Another factor is
that most of the fragrances customers want me to recreate contains
90-98% alcohol, whereas my custom blends are 100% essence oils. Thus
Esens Fragrances are of much higher concentration and quality. Yet
another factor is that while your fragrance contains, let's say, rose
oil, I may carry Bulgarian Rose but your scent contains Egyptian Rose:
not all oils by the same name smell the same or originate from the same
place. One oil may be synthetically derived whereas another may be a
complete essential oil.
As you can see, all of these factors
affect whether a scent can be "duplicated." The singular critical
factor if you really want me to "approximate" a no-longer-produced
scent is your receptivity to having an Esens fragrance designed that is similar to but not identical
to the original scent. The vast majority of my customers who have me
approximate a former fragrance actually prefer my interpretation of
their original scent, not only because of its similarity but more so
because of my intention to create a fragrance that is just for them. I
carried their former fragrance to the next personal level. Please let
me know if you have any questions about this.

Important Information for My Repeat Customers to Remember
I love to honor my returning customers! If you have ever ordered an original
custom fragrance or gift certificate from me, the next time you want to
order another NEW fragrance - for yourself or as a gift for someone
else - contact me directly by phone or email instead of placing your
order online. I will extend a special discount to you. This is one way
I like to show my appreciation for your business and support. The
holidays are around the corner, so I want you to have this message
early.

October Special
Autumn
represents a change from summer lighter-than-air clothes to sweaters
and pants. We cover up our feet after being exposed for months to the
summer heat, and we begin to have inner stirrings of the approaching
cold and holiday season. It is a beginning of the time to return home
and cocoon.
With each custom fragrance or gift certificate
this month, you will receive a 2-ounce natural body and room mist that
contains the warmth of the changing season: pumpkin, clove, chocolate,
and vanilla. Luscious, friendly, comforting, yummy!

I
would like to extend my gratitude to each one of you who attended the
opening of my first group art show last weekend at Stone Avenue Gallery
or sent e-mails of support. I am so honored to have 8 of my images from
"Alchemy: The Fire Series" presented, and I hope my work is inspiring
and throught-provoking. The show is up until October 18.
In closing for this month, I leave you with a favorite quote from Henry David Thoreau:
"If
one advances confidently in the direction of his dreams, and endeavors
to live a life he has imagined, he will meet with success unexpected in
common hours."
Abundance and happiness to each of you until next month.
